PowerSchool Apps
PowerSchool now offers apps for parent and student access in both iOS (Apple) and Android formats. Sign into your ITunes account and search for the PowerSchool App. Do the same in Google Play store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.powerschool.portal&hl=en). Your icon should look like this:

PowerSchool, the Baldwin County Schools Student Information System, has fundamentally changed how parents log in to the parent portal to view their children’s grades, attendance, schedule and other information. The new process is called Single Sign On, or SSO, because once signed in, a parent can alternate viewing the information for each of their children with a simply mouse click. Previously, parents had to log out and then back in using different credentials for each child. SSO also allows parents to setup their own accounts without having to go by the school.


In addition, upgrading to SSO was necessary to allow the use of the Pearson PowerSchool iTunes app that is now available for free on the iTunes Store, allowing parents’ access on the go from their iPhones and iPads. An Android app is available from the Google Play store.


Upgrading to SSO means parent’s old logins will no longer allow access, these instructions describe how each parent can set themselves up. As a matter of security, you will need to know your current access code and password for each child you have in Baldwin County Schools. If your child is new to the system, or you have never used a PowerSchool parent portal account, please contact your child's school. Note that, for the safety of all children in Baldwin County Schools, no one can give you an access code over the phone, parents must appear in person at the school.

Confidentiality and Security of Student Data

Each and every employee who has access to student data is individually responsible, by Federal law, for the confidentiality and security of that data. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), 20 United States Code § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99, states “schools must have written permission from the parent or eligible student in order to release any information from a student's education record”, a regulation enacted by the U.S. House of Representatives on August 6th, 2004 that leaves little room for interpretation. In addition to FERPA, The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a separate Federal regulation that applies similar restrictions to a subset of education records of students with disabilities, over and above FERPA.


We are therefore, publicly and legally accountable for our practices and actions. It is extremely important that every employee share in the responsibility to protect student records from unauthorized access and alteration. We cannot stress strongly enough how we must remain mindful that this confidentiality extends beyond the physical security of paper records or computer access, but also includes our conversations with friends and family that might violate the privacy of a particular student or group of students.


Do not discuss, share in writing or be negligent with student grades, attendance, discipline, test scores, demographic information, or any other student data, unless you have appropriated and can produce written authorization to do so. Every employee will be held individually responsible for strictly adhering to these Federal regulations.
